The targeted regions included several genes with well-characterized regulatory sites, including serum-inducible immediate early promoters (such as EGR1 and FOS17–19) harboring known serum response elements (SREs) and being regulated by ETS family TFs and serum response factor (SRF) via CArG elements20, as well as promoters known to be frequently mutated in skin cancers (including DPH3, RPL13A and TERT 6,10,21–25). This evidence concerns the gene SRF and skin neoplasm.
