The major findings of this study were as follows: 1) transplanted E-MNCs obtained from peripheral blood consistently preserved salivary secretion, 2) E-MNCs clearly suppressed the infiltration of CD4-positive lymphocytes into SGs and the progression of SS-like disease, and 3) E-MNCs might affect these phenomena in a paracrine manner and/or in cooperation with induced recipient anti-inflammatory M2 macrophages. The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is synovial sarcoma.
