The data collected provided evidence for a trend towards higher levels of expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, increases in NAFLD score, collagen accumulation, serum ALT/AST levels and apoptosis in the livers of mice fed saturated high fat diet (MD) compared to the mice fed unsaturated high fat diet (LD) indicating an exacerbating role of a diet high in saturated fats in causing NASH. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
