This yielded five putative core genes—EIF4G3, CCL19, CRTAM, LIN7B and NCR1—on the basis of association of T1D at p<10−9 with a trans-score for the gene product and effective number of trans-pQTLs > 5 and another nine—CD5L, CD48, FCGR3B, GCG, CXCL9, LAG3, CCL15, ICAM2, and BPIFA2—at the less stringent threshold of p<10−6 (Table 4). The gene discussed is CRTAM; the disease is type 1 diabetes mellitus.
