Th1 cells, alongside IFN-γ–secreting CD8 T cells, are readily detectable and more abundant than Th2 cells, and IFN-γ elevated in individuals with more severe asthma (Raundhal et al., 2015; Steinke et al., 2021; Wisniewski et al., 2018), where the immune profile is also more heterogenous, featuring neutrophilic alongside eosinophilic infiltration compared to those with mild allergic asthma. Here, IFNG is linked to allergic asthma.
