Given the IFN-stimulated manner of LGALS3BP expression and its reported association with viral infections in vivo, including its potential suitability as a prognostic marker for disease progression in HIV-1/AIDS [17], we investigated the expression profile of 90K/LGALS3BP in specimens of COVID-19 patients and uninfected individuals and probed for a potential direct antiviral role of 90K against SARS-CoV-2 infection. The gene discussed is IFNA1; the disease is COVID-19.
