In fibrotic and cirrhotic livers, FBLN2 acts as a reliable cellular marker of myofibroblasts around the portal vein.17 Besides this, an increased expression of FBLN2 was reported in experimental rat liver cirrhosis, and greater induction of FBLN2 was detected in human liver cirrhosis.18 However, some researches hypothesized that FBLN2 promotes the development of HCC rely on database analyses.19-21 Crucial experimental evidence to verify the function of FBLN2 in HCC is still scarce and there is limited knowledge about the regulatory role of FBNL2 in the progression of HCC. This evidence concerns the gene FBLN2 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
