In a cross-sectional study of the SIRCA cohort, HDL-C was inversely associated with CAC after adjusting for age and sex (tobit ratio: 0.72 (0.59, 0.88), 0.001), but after further adjustment for medications, blood pressure, lipids, tobacco and alcohol use, exercise, family history of premature IHD, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, and high-sensitivity CRP got insignificant [29]. Here, CRP is linked to myocardial ischemia.
