Conceptually, the time-frame of the responses observed suggest that they are mediated by memory T cells as the time frame is not sufficient for naïve T cell activation, and indeed a nanoparticle based study using immune therapy drugs (including BMS-202) backpacked onto adoptive T cell therapy in melanoma found that effector memory CD8+ T cells mediated anti-tumor immunity37. The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is melanoma.
