Given its manifold functions in cellular homeostasis,KAT8 dysregulationis linked to the onset and progression of cancer.1 Early studies indicated that siRNA-mediated KAT8 silencingin HeLa cells led to downregulation of different oncogenes such asHOXA9, UCP2, KIAA0657, and HIP1 along with alteration of the cellcycle with a significant increase of cells in the G2/M stage.6 This report is in line with observations fromdifferent groups indicating an overexpression of KAT8 in different cancer types in which it seems to play an oncogenicrole. Here, KAT8 is linked to cancer.
