FOXC1 and necrotizing enterocolitis: At 24 h after the neonates were subjected to the NEC protocol, immunohistochemical analyses of BEC (CD31 and endomucin [EMCN]) and LEC (PROX1) markers revealed that levels of FOXC1 and FOXC2 proteins were increased in intestinal BECs and LECs (Fig EV2A–D), compared with dam‐fed (DF) littermate controls.
