AGT and cardiac hypertrophy: SIRT4 knockdown in primary hepatocytes increases SIRT1 expression (Nasrin et al., 2010), whereas, SIRT4 overexpression in mice with Angiotensin II-induced cardiac hypertrophy inhibits the binding of MnSOD to mitochondrial SIRT3 and increases MnSOD acetylation levels to reduce its activity, resulting in increased ROS accumulation upon Ang II stimulation (Luo et al., 2017).
