GPR6 and Parkinson disease: Figure 3 shows a timeline with patent and scientific literature numbers by year for GPR6, showing that in this particular case, significantly more data were reported via patent disclosures than in the scientific literature. Interestingly, a new clinical candidate (currently in phase 2 clinical trials) for Parkinson’s disease, CVN424 (a GPR6 inverse agonist), has been disclosed (Sun et al., 2021; Brice et al., 2021). This molecule can be found in patents as early as 2015 in patent US-9181249-B2 (Brown et al., 2015).
