Among the candidate genes, we were encouraged to see that the top 3 ranked genes, including basonuclin 1 (BNC1), β2 adrenergic receptor (ADRB2), and apelin (APLN), have been well reported as important regulators of cancer metastasis,30, 31, 32 which strongly suggests that our experimental models and selection strategies are useful in profiling metastasis-associated genes (Supplementary Fig. S1a and b; Supplementary Table S3). This evidence concerns the gene ADRB2 and cancer.
