To assess the oncogenic roles of critical pyroptosis regulators in HCC cells, we selected GSDME, the member of the gasdermin superfamily, for subsequent experiments since GSDME showed the most prominent up-regulation in both mRNA and protein levels ((Figs. 9B and 11B), and pyroptosis can be viewed as a gasdermin-mediated programmed necrosis since the gasdermin family plays an indispensable role in pyroptosis [6]. This evidence concerns the gene GSDME and hepatocellular carcinoma.
