Although DHODH complements mitochondrial GPX4 to inhibit ferroptosis, the prevalence of Warburg effect in tumors, indispensability of DHODH-catalyzed reaction for tumor growth and the role of ETC in O2− generation and ferroptosis induction suggest that inhibiting DHODH in some tumors could result in ferroptosis inhibition. The gene discussed is DHODH; the disease is neoplasm.
