Many of the upregulated immature neutrophil genes (e.g., OLFM4, DEFA1, ELANE, CEACAM6, CEACAM8, CTSG) have been found to be differentially expressed in persons with obesity and type 2 diabetes [74, 75], both common comorbidities with psychotic disorders. This evidence concerns the gene OLFM4 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
