AKT1 and cancer: Previous studies have shown that LAPTM4B promotes cancer cell migration via epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) [44], phosphorylation of AKT [45], and the release of matrix metalloprotein (MMP) [46], we recently found that LAPTM4B displays partial filopodia distribution, promoting cancer cell migration via stimulating integrin beta1 recycling and focal adhesion dynamics [24].
