CSF1R and infection: Ly6Chigh monocytes are a short-lived inflammatory subset of monocytes that are actively recruited to sites of infection or injury.49 In contrast, Ly6Clow monocytes are patrolling resident monocytes that adhere to blood vessels under non-inflammatory conditions.50 Our findings suggest that CSF-1R inhibition, independent of TBI, redistributed peripheral monocyte populations toward an inflammatory state.
