In 14-month-old mice exhibiting liver carcinogenesis, the levels of p-mTOR and GβL increased sharply following the hepatic deletion of Ufl1 or Ufbp1. In addition to p-mTOR and GβL, p-p70S6 and p-4EBP-1 were also upregulated in the livers of 8-month-old Ufl1Δ/Δhep mice relative to KO controls, regardless of DEN treatment, strongly implicating a tumor-suppressing role for Ufl1 and Ufbp1.
