Moreover, GSDMD was activated in macrophages of ApoE−/− mice on a high‐fat/high‐cholesterol (HFHC) diet, and blocking GSDMD in HFHC‐fed ApoE−/− mice significantly reduced lesion volume and the number of infiltrated macrophages, suggesting that GSDMD can be act as a novel therapeutic target for atherosclerosis.151.
