Because MBL level can be affected by inflammation, we have checked the prevalence of the increased C reactive protein (CRP) concentrations in particular groups and we did not find statistically significant differences between any groups, i.e. control (1/15, 7%) vs. patients with hypopituitarism (7/33, 21%), p=0.233; control (1/15, 7%) vs. patients with other pituitary diseases (6/45, 13%), p=0.531; patients with hypopituitarism (7/33, 21%) vs. patients with other pituitary diseases (6/45, 13%), p=0.349. The gene discussed is MBL2; the disease is hypopituitarism.
