Chronic kidney disease–mineral and bone disorder (CKD-MBD) are common in hemodialysis patients, with not only disturbances of calcium, phosphate, parathyroid hormone (PTH) and vitamin D metabolism but also cardiovascular calcification and bone abnormalities, leading to an increased incidence of fracture and other poor outcomes [1]. This evidence concerns the gene PTH and Marchiafava-Bignami disease.
