RN represents an inflammatory molecular cascade mediated by vascular injury and propagated by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEG-F) and cytokine release.24 The mechanism by which surgical resection mitigates this phenomenon is by physical removal of the nidus of the chemical cascade.25 In turn, LITT can ablate and denature this molecular nidus through the process of thermal ablation and in turn prevent its further propagation.26 Radiographically, RN can be indistinguishable from tumor progression. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and neoplasm.
