OXCT1 and Hepatic fibrosis: Others (Puchalska et al., 2019) have shown that exogenous AcAc, but not βHB, ameliorated diet-induced hepatic fibrosis through mechanisms that appear linked to the oxidation of AcAc in macrophages, as evidenced by the observation that succinyl Co-transferase (SCOT) null mice (which are unable to oxidize AcAc) had increased fibrosis.
