One path of convergence between alcohol, insulin sensitivity, and PARP inhibition is noted by the efficacy of PPARg agonists to reverse this alcohol-induced insulin resistance, and this recalls the effects of the PARP inhibitor ABT-888, which executes the epigenetic modifications on PPARg promoters amongst other genes (de la Monte et al., 2012). This evidence concerns the gene PARP1 and Insulin resistance.
