In order to develop an alternative targeted therapy for RA patients who do not respond to the anti-TNF biotherapies, Khoury et al. used RPR209120 (2-[3-(bis-(3-aminopropyl)-amino)-propylamino]-N-ditetradecylcarbamoylmethylacetamide) and DOPE (1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine) to form lipoplexes to encapsulate anti-IL-1, anti-IL-6 or anti-IL-18 siRNA. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and rheumatoid arthritis.
