Malnourished children with cryptosporidiosis living in endemic areas of Haiti and northeastern Brazil had evidence of intestinal or systemic inflammation (from mild to moderate degrees) with findings of elevated fecal and systemic levels of lactoferrin and interleukin-8 (IL-8) with TNF values more significantly increased than those observed in healthy adult volunteers [9,44,45]. Here, CXCL8 is linked to cryptosporidiosis.
