This absence of IFN production upon UV-inactivated MVMp infection is not related to an alteration in the uptake of UV-treated particles since both wild-type and UV-exposed virions can be detected 12 h p.i. in the cytoplasm of highly permissive mouse A9 fibroblasts in the vicinity of the nucleus by immunofluorescence using an MVMp capsid antibody (Figure S4B). The gene discussed is IFNA1; the disease is infection.
