The poor antitumor efficacy of COX-2 inhibitors against certain tumor types can be explained by the fact that the blockade of one enzyme pathway potentiates another, from which it can be concluded that the blockade of both pathways (inhibition of COX-2 and 5-LOX enzymes) is a good approach to effective colorectal cancer therapy [4,5,6,7,8,9].
