In contrast, we found that treating THP-1 cells with 0.3 mg/mL MSU crystals for 24 h reduced PPAR-γ activity and also inhibited PPAR-γ gene and protein expression, which suggests that the anti-inflammatory potential of PPAR-γ in the short-lived acute phase of gout is lost when the duration of crystal stimulation becomes longer.
