It was found that participants carrying the minor G allele of rs10830963 in the MTNR1B were associated with higher fasting plasma glucose concentration and glycohemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), increased homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA2-IR), reduced beta-cell function, and increased risk of T2D [10,11,12,13,14]. Here, MTNR1B is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
