Lu et al. [4] found that alkali-treated lignin inhibited enzymatic and non-enzymatic lipid peroxidation, hindered the activity of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), which is an enzyme implicated in the generation of superoxide anion radicals, and reduced the growth of HeLa S3 cervical cancer cells. This evidence concerns the gene G6PD and cervical carcinoma.
