Studies in human intestinal ECs show that chemokines such as CCL-5, CXCL-8, and CXCL-10 are upregulated in Cryptosporidium infection, and CXCL-8 is detectable in the stool samples of children infected with cryptosporidiosis [18,24]. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL10 and cryptosporidiosis.
