Analogous urinary changes were presented in previous studies of Zucker obese rats [6,15,16,17], in rodent models with diet-induced obesity such as spontaneously hypertensive or Wistar Kyoto (WKY) rats [32] and C57BL/6J mice [33], and in obese insulin-resistant humans [34]. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
