Although statins were confirmed to significantly lower LDL-C and reduce stroke risk in several studies, the likelihood of cardiovascular diseases remains [3,16,17,18,19]; therefore, to solve this problem, ezetimibe and proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors should be considered as an addition to statin treatment.
