For the occurrence of an incisional hernia, five risk factors were identified: the presence of COPD (p = 0.045); a preoperative CRP level above 5 mg/L (p = 0.005); the use of a midline incision (p = 0.041); and the postoperative occurrence of fascial dehiscence (p = 0.029) or SSI (p = 0.046). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
