The urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR), also referred to as urokinase and vitronectin, is primarily expressed on the surface of immune cells, such as macrophages, monocytes, activated T-lymphocytes, neutrophils, but it is also found on fibroblasts, endothelial cells, megakaryocytes, vascular smooth muscle cells keratinocytes and some cancer cells [1,2,3,4,5].
