Several genes or loci including synuclein alpha (SNCA), leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2), Parkin RBR E3 ubiquitin protein ligase (PARKIN), PTEN-induced kinase 1 (PINK1), and glucosylceramidase beta 1 (GBA1), which have a genetic and neuropathologic link to PD, have been identified as being involved in PD, have been reviewed elsewhere [8,9,10,11,12] and are also registered in the Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM) database. Here, PRKN is linked to Parkinson disease.
