FAS and neuropathy: Increased levels of LC3-II and Fas-related death proteins were observed in neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells cultured with serum from patients with neuropathy, suggesting that autophagy may play a protective role in apoptosis through the Fas-dependent pathway that activates autophagy in cells, and that Fas (CD35)-FADD-caspase-8 is associated with apoptosis [31].
