This study showed the localization of PON-1 and PON-3 around and inside Aβ plaques in a murine model of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), suggesting that HDL particles carry PON-1 and PON-3 from the liver, where they are synthesized to areas of high levels of inflammation and oxidative stress. Here, PON1 is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
