FOXP3 and synovial sarcoma: The high levels of miR-155 in particular can be explained by the activity of the FoxP3 transcription factor, which is overexpressed in T cells infiltrating SS salivary glands, and also by the release of miR-155 from salivary gland epithelial cells; experiments performed by Le Dantec et al. showed that cultured salivary epithelial cells from SS express two-fold more miR-155 than controls [102].
