BMP8A and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis: Among patients with NASH (N = 85), circulating BMP8A concentrations were significantly increased in patients with advanced fibrosis (F3-F4) (312.1 ± 106.5 pg/mL, N = 33) compared to those without or with mild fibrosis (F0-F2) (222.3 ± 116.8 pg/mL, p = 0.0001, N = 52), as well as compared to individuals with NL (227.8 ± 136 pg/mL, p = 0.0019, N = 36, Fig. 5A).
