IL1B and metabolic syndrome: A recent study reported that adults with MUOW phenotype (defined using metabolic syndrome definition with BMI) had higher levels of serum concentrations of inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin (IL‐1β), IL‐6, IL‐8, IL‐10, and tumor necrosis factor‐α, compared to adults with MHNW,47 which suggests that excess body fat and altered metabolic profile are also linked to inflammation.
