LA’s growth-inhibitory effect in the ovarian cancer cells is linked to the lengthening of the half-life of the cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor, p27kip1 [57] and downregulation of two anti-apoptotic proteins, Mcl-1 and Bcl-xL protein and a strong induction of the BH3-only protein Bim [58]. This evidence concerns the gene BCL2L11 and ovarian carcinoma.
