Any impairment in insulin signaling leads to insulin resistance, which has been linked to various neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease (AD) [2], Parkinson’s disease (PD) [3] Huntington’s disease (HD) [4] etc. In contrast to peripheral tissues like skeletal muscle, liver and adipocytes where insulin signaling and effect of insulin resistance has been studied extensively, the regulation of neuronal insulin signaling is not explored as much. This evidence concerns the gene INS and Alzheimer disease.
