Specifically, upregulated FOXP1 target genes were associated with heart development (ADRA1A, AKAP13, SLC8A1), insulin resistance (GYS1, PPP1R3A, TBC1D4) (Xirouchaki et al., 2016), and response to hypoxia (DNMT3A, PAM, SLC8A1); downregulated FOXP1 target genes were related to cell–cell junction organization (JUP, TJP1), regulation of ion transport (FGF13, KCNJ3, CACNA2D3) and regulation of membrane potential (ATP2A2, KCNJ3, CD36) (Fig. 4L). The gene discussed is AKAP13; the disease is Insulin resistance.
