Specifically, upregulated FOXP1 target genes were associated with heart development (ADRA1A, AKAP13, SLC8A1), insulin resistance (GYS1, PPP1R3A, TBC1D4) (Xirouchaki et al., 2016), and response to hypoxia (DNMT3A, PAM, SLC8A1); downregulated FOXP1 target genes were related to cell–cell junction organization (JUP, TJP1), regulation of ion transport (FGF13, KCNJ3, CACNA2D3) and regulation of membrane potential (ATP2A2, KCNJ3, CD36) (Fig. 4L). This evidence concerns the gene DNMT3A and Insulin resistance.
