CHCHD2 and breast cancer: The role of mitochondrial autoimmunity in carcinogenesis (Fernández Madrid et al., 2015) is further supported by the report that key enzyme components of the mitochondrial electron transport chain (ETC) are BC autoantigens (Maroun et al., 2017), and more recently by the demonstration that autoimmunity is responsible for the direct participation of MNRR1 in breast carcinogenesis (Aras et al., 2019).
