It has been reported that IGF-I is overexpressed in about 70% of BC patients and associated with higher BC risk (44), and this results in the activation of specific signaling pathways, i.e. Ras, Raf and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and, the above-mentioned, PI3K-Akt and Hippo pathway. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and breast cancer.
