Our own studies of the viral beta 2.7 RNA and interaction with GRIM-19 is a prescient example of this where the RNA targets GRIM-19 to sustain its normal physiological role rather than prevent a specific retinoic acid phenotype it is responsible for in cancer cells (and how it is was named) (88, 89, 90, 91). The gene discussed is NDUFA13; the disease is cancer.
